Happy release day (March 8th) to Monica Drake’s beautiful new baby, the story collection, The Folly of Loving Life. We’re very excited about this wonderful collection of linked stories. It’s especially wonderful because it’s such a Portland book. The Willamette Week even says “it feels like the book the city needs right now.” And Kevin Canty compares it to Jesus’ Son on his back cover blurb. Not to mention the early attention from Portland Monthly and the excerpt that ran on the Tin House blog and The Guardian. It’s all very exciting and there’s much more to come.

Monica had an awesome book release reading at Powell’s on Leap Day and her next reading will be at Broadway Books on Wednesday, March 23rd with Rios De La Luz. We hope to see you there, and if you read the book (or ANY of our books), we’d love to see you review it on Goodreads.

Also, Future Tense will be at AWP in Los Angeles at the end of March at booth #106 (sharing a spot with Timberline Review). In fact, there’s an anniversary reading happening on Thursday morning. Maybe we’ll bring doughnuts and coffee. Future Tense publisher Kevin Sampsell will also be on a panel the next morning about getting your first book into print. A bunch of our authors will be there and some of them will be hanging out at the booth throughout the day. Watch our Twitter page to keep up with the special appearances. Thanks for supporting Future Tense!
