I think summer is probably my favorite time of year in Portland. All the flowers come out of hiding, I get to click on the bedside fan, and weekend porch reading and writing time is in full effect! Also, I dust off my portable amp and microphone and ask some of my favorite writers and friends to read some of their words at my lovely neighborhood park. Picnic lit!

I’m going to host a couple of them this summer. The first on Sunday, July 21st. Just look at those details! Felicity! (Author of User Not Found. Ooooh!) Johannes! (Back in Portland from Ukraine.) Raveena! (Recent graduate of the IPRC program. Future superstar.) Tom! (He works! He plays! He dances! He writes!)

Park reading #2 will be Saturday, August 10th and feature Sarah Galvin, Chrys Tobey, Richard Chiem, and others TBA. Also at Irving Park at 7pm. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, bevs, puppies, friends, frisbees, and sun screen (though we usually find a sweet spot in a big tree shade). More info on that one soon. After the readings, we can walk down the street and have some after-park drinks at The Rose City Book Pub. Hope to see you there. –Kevin
